Mara Kade knows how security systems think. That's why she's still alive. Posing as a maintenance contractor aboard an isolated research station, Mara has one job: get in, steal a package of restricted dark-matter research, and disappear before anyone realizes she was there. Getting in is easy. Too easy. Doors open before she reaches them. Security systems anticipate her movements. The station's AI doesn't seem alarmed by the intrusion. It seems curious. Then curiosity becomes containment. The facility seals itself section by section, corrupts the stolen data, disables escape routes, and begins eliminating every possible trace of the breach. Mara soon discovers the worst part: the station hasn't gone rogue. It's following its instructions exactly. With the remaining crew trapped inside and the facility methodically turning itself into a tomb, Mara has to do something she's spent her career avoiding. She has to make sure law enforcement finds the crime, even if that means leaving them a trail straight back to her.
